TERMS AND CONDITIONS

ILANGA and berea technical college bursary COMPETITION

  1. In order to enter this competition, participants must purchase a copy of ILANGA Newspaper (Monday, Thursday or Sunday). Fill in the entry form, cut it out and either:
  • Post it to the ILANGA Newspaper offices – PO Box 2159, Durban 4001, or
  • Hand delivery to the ILANGA Newspaper offices – 19 Timeball Boulevard, Point Waterfront, Durban, or
  • Drop it into the competition boxes at either Berea College, Anton Lembede Street or Berea Tech, Monty Naicker Road.

All entries need to be received before the closing date and any entries received after the closing date will not be accepted for the competition and will be forfeited.

  1. Winners will receive a full bursary for study in 2023 and will receive a further full bursary for 2024 subject to passing the selected course in accordance with the passing requirements stipulated by Berea Technical College. If the winner fails the course in 2023 no further bursary will be awarded.
  2. The Competition commences on 31 October 2022 and ends on 3 January 2023.
  3. This Competition is organised by ILANGA Newspaper and Berea Technical College (btc.edu.za)
  4. The Competition is open to permanent residents and citizens of South Africa over the age of 18 years in possession of a valid South African Identity Document, except any employee, director, member, partner, agent or consultant or any person directly or indirectly who controls or is controlled by ILANGA Newspaper and Berea Technical College or its affiliates and/or association.
  5. By entering the Competition, all participants and winners agree to be bound by these rules which will be interpreted by ILANGA whose decision regarding any dispute will be final and binding. ILANGA reserve the right to amend, modify, change, postpone, suspend or cancel this Competition and any prizes or any aspect thereof, without notice at any time, for any reason which ILANGA deem necessary.
  6. Entrants are required to have a minimum Matric certificate for all Diploma courses but do not need a Matric for Pre-Trade courses. The selection will be done on a lucky draw basis and finalists will need to meet all the competition and course entry requirements.
  7. Participants may enter the Competition as many times as they wish provided they purchase ILANGA Newspaper copy from any store in South Africa, and follow the entry mechanics.
  8. Only original completed entry forms will be accepted. No copies at all.
  9. Entries which are unclear, illegible, submitted via an incorrect entry mechanism, contain errors or are from Disqualified Persons will be declared invalid.
  10. The bursaries are neither transferable nor redeemable for cash.
  11. Should we not be able to contact a finalist telephonically after three attempts within a seven day period, the finalist will be withdrawn and the next person drawn will become the finalist.
  12. Should any dispute arise in relation to the interpretation of these Competition rules, ILANGA’S decision shall be final and no correspondence shall be entered into.
  13. In your interest, ILANGA has done everything reasonably practicable to comply with all the relevant laws that they are subject to in terms of the Protection of Personal Information Act (4 of 2013), we comply with industry standards when it comes to the collection, storage and protection of your personal information.
