    UMLANDO: MENZI JELE

    MHLA ka-28 kuMasingana (January) 2024, iSilo uMisuzulu kaZwelithini, iNdlulamithi, simemezele uMfu uThulasizwe Buthelezi njengondunankulu kaZulu, sabeka iNkosi yaseMaDungeni, uPhathisizwe Chiliza, njengesekela lakhe. Ngalelo langa kwakuseSandlwana, kukhunjulwa iMpi kaZulu namaNgisi, obesekuphele iminyaka ewu-145 yalwa.

    UMntwana uVanana Zulu, waKwaMinyamanzi noMnu uSipho Mhlongo,  basebemenyezelwe njengabadidiyeli bamabutho. Kwaqhamuka abanye abantu abathi lezi zikhundla kazikho kumthethosisekelo wezwe. Umlando usitshela ukuthi lezi zikhundla zazikhona emandulo, umthethosisekelo ungakabikhona ezweni. 

    ISilo uShaka kaSengangakhona, iLembe, sasinondunankulu, uNgomane kaMqomboli Mdletshe – esasisuke naye kwaMthethwa, besebuthweni leziChwe – kanti uNdwandwe (igama lomuntu) kaMdlaka Ntshangase wayengumdidiyeli wamabutho.

    IZIKHUNDLA ZAMADODA AQOTHO NEQHAZA LAWO

    Kulezi zikhundla akuthathwa noma ngubani. ISilo nesigungu saso babheka isipiliyoni namagalelo alowo muntu ngaphambi kokumbeka esikhundleni. Undunankulu wesizwe uwumlomo, amehlo nezindlebe zeSilo. Uma kunemikhosi noma izimbizo zesizwe, iNgonyama ithumela yena ukuba akahlabe umkhosi, aqoqe isizwe.

    ISilo uDingane kaSenzangakhona, sabusa kusukela ngo-1828 saze sabulawa ngo-1840, eMaqongqo, KwaHlathikhulu, kwesakwaNyawo. UNdunankulu kaZulu ngesikhathi saso, kwakunguNdlela kaSompisi wakwaNtuli, umdidiyeli wamabutho kunguNzobo kaSobadla Ntombela, uDambuza. 

    ISilo uZwelithini kaBhekuzulu, uMdlokombane, ngesikhathi sigcoba iNkosi uS’thembiso kaMzungezi Ntuli, oYaya, KwaNhliziyonde, eShowe, sancoma kakhulu amagalelo kaNdlela kaSompisi ebukhosini  baKwaZulu. Sathi ubukhosi baKwaZulu bukhona nje, kungenxa kaNdlela owasindisa uMpande, iSilo uDingane sifuna ukumbulala. 

    ISilo uMpande kaSenzangakhona sabusa kusukela ngo-1840 saze sakhothama ngoMfumfu (October) ngo-1872 sesikhulile impela. Saqoka uMasiphula kaMamba Ntshangase, owaseMgazini, ukuba abe ngundunankulu wesizwe. 

    UNongalaza kaMphankomo Mnyandu noMpangazitha wasemaNcwangeni, babengabadidiyeli bamabutho. Ukuba ngumdidiyeli wamabutho, nakhona akuvele kuthathwe noma yiliphi ivaka, kuthathwa insizwa ehlabanayo ezimpini futhi enekhono lokukhuza amabutho. 

    ISilo uMpande kasilwanga izimpi eziningi, kwakuyinkosi eyayikhonze ukuthula kodwa sawahlasela amaHlubi, sifuna izinkomo zeNkosi uLangalibalele kaMthimkhulu Hadebe. 

    UMNTWANA UMAPHITHA KASOJIYISA KAJAMA 

    ISilo uMpande sesidunguzela, sathi makulandwe uMntwana uMaphitha kaSojiyisa kaJama, waKwaMandlakazi. Sambuza ukuthi njengoba sesidunguzela nje, ngubani ozosala abheke abantwana baso. UMntwana uMaphitha nomkhandlu weSilo, bavumelana ngegama likaMnyamana kaNgqengelele Buthelezi. 

    ISilo uMpande sanxusa uMaphitha ukuba makahambe amzingelele “untanga yakhe” (ibhubesi elidala) ngoba sifisa ukuthi uma sesihamba emhlabeni, sigoqwe ngesikhumba salelo bhubesi. Latholakala ezintabeni zaseBombolo, ezehlukanisa izifunda iZululand noMkhanyakude njengamanje, phesheya komfula iWela.

    ISilo uCetshwayo kaMpande, sabusa kusukela ngo-1872 saze sakhothama mhla ka-8 kuNhlolanja (February) ngo-1884. UMnyamana nguyena owayengundunankulu wesizwe kuphethe iSilo uCetshwayo. Kwabe kuyindoda enesipiliyoni impela lena, ngoba nabantwana baseNdlunkulu kaZulu babeyihlonipha. 

    UNtshingwayo kaMahole wakwaKhoza, induna yaKwaGqikazi, nguyena owayengumdidiyeli wamabutho ngesikhathi kubusa iSilo uCetshwayo. Kulwiwa nama-Ngisi eSandlwana nje, mhla ka-22 kuMasingana (January) 1879, uNtshingwayo kaMahole nguyena owayekhuza amabutho, edidiyela kuleyo mpi. 

    ISilo uDinuzulu kaCetshwayo, kasibusanga kahle KwaZulu ngoba amaNgisi ayengasinike thuba. Saboshwa sadingiselwa esiqhingini iSt. Helena, izwe laphathwa nguMankulumana kaSomaphunga Ndwandwe, iShudu, noMgamule kaNzobo Ntombela – induna yaKwaDabhazi – bebambisene neNdlovukazi uNomvimbi uMaMnguni, okaMsweli.

    ISilo uDinuzulu – uMamonga woSuthu – sakhothamela epulazini i-Uitkyk (KwaThengisangaye), eMiddleburg, ngoMfumfu (October) ngo-1913.  UMankulumana nguyena owaba ngumeluleki weSilo saKwaDlamahlahla, iNgonyama uSolomon kaDinuzulu, kwaze kwaba uyadlula emhlabeni ngo-1926. 

    Induna uNdabankulu kaLukhwazi Ntombela, uMntwana waseNjikini, uSomcuba kaMqundana Zulu, uMntwana uMnyayiza kaNdabuko waKwaMinya, yibona ababeyisandla sokuphosa seSilo uSolomon. ISilo uSolomon sathatha uMntwana waKwaMandlakazi, uBhokwe kaZibhebhu kaMaphitha, samusa esikoleni ngoba sifuna kube nokubuyisana phakathi koSuthu noMandlakazi. 

    INKOSI UMATHOLE KAMKHANDUMBA YETHULWA ESIZWENI

    Ngo-1925, uPrince of Wales – engakabi nguKing Edward V111 – wafikela eShowe, lapho okwafika amakhosi eyomotha. ISilo uSolomon – esasibusa ngaleso sikhathi – saphakamisa uMathole kaMkhandumba Buthelezi (owayemzalele uTshanibezwe kaMnyamana), sathi nguyena undunankulu kaZulu. 

    NguMankulumana owaphakamisa igama likaMathole ekutheni akasingathe lesi sikhundla. INkosana kaMnyamana, uTshanibezwe, yayingenawo amadodana. Yacela umnawabo, uMkhandumba, ukuba ayinike umfana oyedwa “ezombhekelanje amathole”. UMathole wathathwa wafakwa endlini kaTshanibezwe. 

    ISilo uSolomon sakhothama siyolamula umbango wamadodana oMntwana uKhambi kaHhamu, KwaNgenetsheni, ngoNdasa (March) ka-1933. UMntwana uMshiyeni kaDinuzulu waKwaSokesimbone, nguyena owabamba isihlalo, esibambele uBhekuzulu Cyprian Nyangayezizwe, iSilo uBhusha. 

     INKOSI UMANGOSUTHU BUTHELEZI IPHATHE LESI SIKHUNDLA IMINYAKA

    NgoMandulo (September) ngo-1954, iSilo uBhusha, sethule uMntwana waKwaPhindangene, iNkosi uMangosuthu Buthelezi, sathi nguyena undunankulu ka-Zulu. KwakuseMkhosini weLembe, KwaDukuza.

    UMntwana waKwaPhindangene usingathe lesi sikhundla ngaphansi kweziNgonyama ezintathu; iSilo uNyangayezizwe, iSilo uZwelithini neSilo uMisuzulu. Uze wadlula emhlabeni nyakenye kunguyena osingethe izindaba zaseNdlunkulu kaZulu. Ngisho ukubekwa kweSilo uMisuzulu kwakusingethwe nguyena. 

    UMagema Fuze wabhala incwadi ethi “Abantu abamnyama lapho bedabuka khona” iyatholakala emitapweni yolwazi (libraries). Le ncwadi icacisa izinto eziningi ezimayelana nemvelaphi nokuhleleka koMbuso waKwaZulu.
